2:15pm – 2:40pm
PROBABLE FUTURES
This session examines research from the Woodwell Climate Research Centre that assesses the socioeconomic risks associated with climate change and shows how societies and economies will cross critical thresholds and face new vulnerabilities over less time than the duration of a typical mortgage. It outlines the important work with private sector organisations.
2:40pm – 3:05pm
CLIMATE… TALKS

1:15pm – 1:45pm
DIVERSITY AND INCLUSION – GENDER LENS INVESTING
There has been rapid growth in women’s labour force participation over recent decades and the industries projected to experience the greatest employment growth in coming decades are female-dominated. In addition it is well documented that companies with women in senior decision making positions perform better. Despite these gains, the COVID-19 pandemic disproportionately hit women workers, increasing the need to adopt a gender lens in investment. Taking strong action to create and sustain high quality jobs for women will be critical in the recovery and create a more inclusive economic recovery. This session looks at the gender gap and the tools and processes available to improve the gender lens for investors both organisationally and for the companies they invest in.
1:45pm – 2:15pm
DIVERSITY AND INCLUSION CASE STUDIES
This session will look at various asset owner case studies and how they are tackling diversity and inclusion, through their own organisational processes and practices, through manager due diligence and by aligning their investments with the SDGs.
2:15pm – 2:35pm
IMPACT IN PUBLIC MARKETS
Public markets present many opportunities to pursue environmental and social goals in investor portfolios. Bridgewater’s director of investment research, Karen Karniol-Tambour, discusses frameworks for assessing the sustainability and impact characteristics of public assets including equities, fixed income assets and commodities which investors can apply to their own portfolios.
2:35pm – 2:50pm
THE GLOBAL LABOUR MARKET IS BROKEN: WHY INVESTORS SHOULD CARE
More than half the global labour force is in informal markets and many more are in precarious and short term work. In global supply chains, 94 per cent of the global workforce is a hidden workforce which facilitates exploitation and oppression. The world is three times richer than 20 years ago, yet 70 per cent of people are denied universal social protection. This session examines why there needs to be a new social contract between workers, government and business and what will happen if there isn’t.
2:50pm – 3:15pm
ENGAGEMENT - LABOUR RIGHTS AND COVID
This session looks at how investors can influence investee companies to change their focus and put people before profits to create a more sustainable economy. It will look specifically at the actions of corporations during the COVID health crisis and the rights of workers.
3:15pm – 3:40pm
WHAT’S NEXT FOR INVESTOR ACTION?
What are the next generation strategies and tools for investor engagement and what frontier topics should investors be considering? This session looks at two case studies activist stewardship (with Exxon) and whether investors are funding treason (the case of the US congress riots).
3:40pm – 4:15pm
